Electronic Arts and Ascendant Studios have released new details of the gameplay of Immortals of Aveum. With high-intensity gameplay, the title will take players to a magical universe where you need to know spells and use them strategically.

According to the developers, the wizard Jak will have at the disposal, at the very beginning of the campaign, three styles of witchcraft: green, red, and blue. Each must be used under specific conditions and combines skills to combat the tyrannical forces of Rasharn.

Blue magic powers the Shrikebolt power, being effective at a long range and capable of reaching enemies’ weak points. Meanwhile, the red will have a bond with Breachfire, ideal for combat in proximity, and the green supports Stormshards, a teleguided spell that facilitates the fight against fast opponents.

However, the gameplay of Immortals of Aveum will not be based essentially on these combinations. Throughout the campaign, the protagonist will have access to spells of control, augmentation, fury, and dominance, which adapt to other powers to facilitate more challenging combat situations.

Interface as an element of intensity in Immortals of Aveum

Finally, Ascendant Studios reinforced that the FPS interface was reworked to ensure a more frantic experience. According to the devs, HUD will be minimalist and will not occupy the screen with information beyond the necessary ones.

Although there are more than 25 spells and 80 talents to unlock, upgrade, or real-time exchange actions should be intuitive. Instead of betting on the traditional conventional FPS weapon wheel, there is a magic meter represented by a compact symbol in the lower right corner.

“We really wanted to focus on the frantic gameplay. Often, when you implement a wheel, you need to think about slowing things down, creating a tactical moment that is cool, but also obviously sets a pace and takes it off the danger of the game. We made a conscious decision not to do so,” said artist-in-combinence artist Jim Ingraham on ps blog

Immortals of Aveum launches on July 20 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
