Facebook launches a new dark mode web interface this Friday, March 20. This update is only available for certain Facebook users and therefore only applies to desktop PC or Mac interfaces.
Nearly a year after switching to the dark mode from the messenger application and recently to WhatsApp (Facebook’s), people are wondering why the mobile version of Facebook is still losing dark mode. After all, it is a breath of fresh air blown into the user interface by Facebook and often criticized as old-fashioned and out of date.

Day and night, the choice is yours
If this new interface is already available for almost all users, it is not activated by default and requires manipulation. Just click on the drop-down menu on the top right (down arrow) on the Facebook homepage and then “Switch to new Facebook”.
You can switch back to the old interface at any time, with the same manipulation, and this is also the case for switching to dark mode. Juggling between the dark theme and the light theme, and vice versa is very easy and is done from the drop-down menu displayed at the top right.
The deployment is still underway and it is likely to take place over several weeks or even months, as Facebook indicates in its announcement. This is why some of you will have to wait before benefiting from this update.
Overall, Facebook wants to offer a simplified experience with a more modern design, larger texts, and better-organized elements. We also see a reworked top bar with a search function that takes up less space and a highlight of the Home, Watch, Marketplace, Groups, and Gaming buttons right in the center.
And you? Do you already have access to this new interface? Do you find it more ergonomic and more modern?
