Facebook removed 540 crore fake accounts from its platform

Social networking platform Facebook has become quite aware of fake accounts. The company has removed 5.4 billion fake accounts from its platform this year. This information has been obtained through AFP (Agence France-Presse). At the same time, a Reuters report said that the figure was 3.2 billion from April to September. That is, during this time the company has remitted 3.2 billion fake accounts. Talking about the old figures, during the same time last year, the company had remitted 1.55 billion accounts.

What Facebook says: 

Facebook has stated in its latest transparency report that we have improved the ability to create and identify fake accounts. This will help in dealing with fake accounts. With the help of the detection system, the company prevents millions of fake accounts from being created every day. According to Facebook, fake accounts are those that are created in the name of an individual or institution that has nothing to do with reality.

Investments to remove fake accounts:

The social network has invested heavily to find and remove fake accounts designed to deceive people. Especially in places where false news is spread about political or social agenda.

Fake accounts have also been removed before:

 Facebook earlier reported that 2.2 billion fake accounts were removed in the first quarter of the year. At the same time, in the last quarter of 2018, Facebook had removed 1 billion fake accounts and 583 million fake accounts in the first quarter. Many accounts were removed shortly after they were created.
