Facebook tested locking Face ID or Touch ID for Messenger on iOS

Facebook is reportedly using an option that requires Face ID or Touch ID authentication to access the user’s inbox in future updates.

According to 9to5Mac, the option to unlock the Messenger application with Face ID or Touch ID already offers a similar experience on WhatsApp – which also belongs to Facebook. The user can determine whether authentication is required when the application is opened or after an inactive period which can range from 1 minute to 1 hour.

In general, activating biometric authentication provides an additional layer of security for messenger conversations. This feature is being tested with a small number of Facebook Messenger users on iOS, but the company plans to expand it to more users in the future.

In a statement to Engadget, Facebook said that providing message blocking options was part of company policy to ensure user privacy. The company said, “We want to give people more options and controls to protect their private messages. We have recently begun testing features that allow users to unlock applications. Messenger with device settings. An additional level of privacy has been added to prevent users from accessing messages. them. “”

There is currently no information about when Facebook will offer this new feature to everyone. Users can check whether their new features come to their device or not. If not, they can wait longer.
