Flappy Bird game will ‘never’ have NFTs

In response to concerns about cryptocurrencies, the team behind the Flappy Bird revival project has stated that the game will not feature NFTs but will offer “Web3 integration options.”

The classic gameplay of Flappy Bird remains unchanged, with additional options for utilizing Web3 features. Importantly, the game can still be played without the need for a cryptocurrency wallet, and it will never incorporate NFTs.

The project’s spokesperson mentioned that the game will integrate Web3 features when played on the Telegram messaging application, but players will have the freedom to opt out of engaging with the Web3 space and simply enjoy the game without linking to an e-wallet.

Future versions of the game will be available on mobile platforms without encryption and will be free to play. The monetization model will rely on in-app transactions, offering items and energy options to enhance the gaming experience. Additionally, the revived version of Flappy Bird will include ads, which can be viewed for additional benefits or disabled if desired.

The new version of Flappy Bird will be developed as a mini app on Telegram, aligning with the recent trend of releasing games on Telegram to attract users to the project.

In early September, hidden pages related to cryptocurrency were discovered on Flappy Bird’s website, hinting at a play-to-earn model associated with a token called FLAP. While initial speculation suggested the game might be built on the Solana blockchain platform, the project developers revealed that they chose TON (The Open Network), which is linked to Telegram. The project also announced a future airdrop of free cryptocurrency.

The Flappy Bird Foundation, composed of dedicated fans of the game, is leading the revival project. The foundation acquired the copyright after the original game was removed, and it plans to bring the game back to iOS and Android platforms. Despite enthusiastic community support, some individuals expressed concerns about the game’s connection to cryptocurrency and NFTs.

Notably, Nguyen Ha Dong, the original creator of Flappy Bird, has distanced himself from the game’s revival, stating that he has no involvement and does not support cryptocurrency.

The re-emergence of Flappy Bird, with its ties to Web3 and digital currency projects, has sparked significant community interest. Despite the controversies, many fans eagerly await the game’s return, while others remain hesitant due to its association with cryptocurrency.

The original Flappy Bird game attracted over 100 million players, and its anticipated return has garnered attention from both loyal fans and skeptics. Nguyen Ha Dong previously revealed that the game earned him $50,000 per day from advertising before its removal.
