In January 2024, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 line, which introduced the Galaxy AI toolkit featuring various artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities exclusive to this premium device range.
Subsequently, Samsung has expanded the availability of Galaxy AI to additional devices such as the Galaxy S23, and S22, and foldable phones. Notably, the “Circle to Search” functionality, developed by Google, will soon be introduced to mid-range devices, starting with 4 Galaxy A series tablet models and 2 “FE” series tablets.
Circle to Search empowers users to intelligently search for objects, topics, or images displayed on the screen. By activating this feature, users can use their fingers to draw on the screen and conduct a search for further information. For instance, when watching a movie trailer, Circle to Search can be utilized to gather information about a location seen in the trailer or about specific items such as watches or glasses worn by the characters. Additionally, the tool within Galaxy AI is expected to offer enhanced capabilities in the future, potentially enabling users to discern whether an image is authentic or generated using AI.
Experience D Samsung Mobile Chairman, TM Roh, stated that the introduction of Circle to Search to select Galaxy A series devices and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE underscores Samsung’s dedication to bringing advanced technology to a wider audience of Galaxy users.
The availability of Circle to Search on other Samsung devices will be facilitated through updates, with the rollout being implemented gradually based on the country and region. There are also speculations about the extension of Galaxy AI to mid-range Galaxy smartphone models, including the Galaxy A35 and A55; however, the official deployment date for this expansion has not been confirmed.
