While many may appreciate the Plus models in the Galaxy S family, Samsung is expected to kill this version when it launches the Galaxy S24 next year.

According to GizChina, the current Galaxy S series comes in standard, Plus, and Ultra models. Even so, dismal sales for the Plus version are the reason why Samsung abandoned this version in the Galaxy S24 series .

The report released by The Elec said that the Galaxy S24 project is called DM with two sub-projects DM1 and DM3, respectively, two standard and Ultra versions. Because of the lack of DM2, it is likely that the Plus model does not exist in this product line. Of course, Samsung can still add DM2 later, especially in the context that the company is still more than a year away from launching the Galaxy S24.

On the other hand, even if Samsung cancels the Plus models, it makes sense because sales of this product are not so impressive. According to The Elec, the market has matured and most users buy high-end or budget models in developed countries. This was also shown in the Plus model of the iPhone 14 when it was the worst-selling model in the list of four members of the iPhone 14 family.

Figures from Gfk show that the Galaxy S22 Plus only accounted for 17% of total Galaxy S22 sales last year. Meanwhile, the standard and Ultra models account for 38% and 45%, respectively.

plans to cut back The Galaxy S24 Plus may not be the only victim in Samsung. The company is also expected to reduce the number of Galaxy A models, with the possibility of the Galaxy A2x series being dropped. Besides, the company is also expected to revive the Galaxy FE series next year to address the low-cost product market.
