Gmail has more intelligent reply capabilities using AI

Google has recently enhanced Gmail with Gemini-based intelligence, which aims to provide contextual email response suggestions. This upgrade integrates the Gemini AI platform into the ‘Smart Reply’ feature on mobile devices, offering smarter and more relevant reply options based on the entire email conversation rather than just the most recent email.

With the support of Gemini, users will now receive up to 3 AI-generated reply options when clicking the ‘Reply’ button. By analyzing the complete content of an email thread, Gemini can better understand the context and offer appropriate suggestions, ultimately helping users save time and effort.

Users can preview the complete response content generated by Gemini by long-pressing on the suggestion. They have the option to use it directly or customize it before sending it.

For now, this feature with Gemini is available to specific users, including those with certain Google Workspace accounts and regular Gmail users with a Google One subscription that includes the AI Premium package.

The feature currently supports English, with plans to expand to more languages in the future. Additionally, users need to join the Google Workspace Labs program to experience the new feature before it is widely released.

Smart Reply with Gemini is a prime example of how AI is transforming the email management experience. By leveraging Gemini, Google aims to help users respond to emails more efficiently while ensuring that responses remain contextual. However, it’s important for users to carefully review AI-generated response suggestions to ensure they align with the context and purpose of the conversation.
