Google addresses Chrome browser slowness

Google has introduced a range of browser acceleration features aimed at enhancing the performance of Chrome and addressing its reputation for being resource-intensive.

Recent updates highlighted by TechRadar emphasize improvements in Chrome’s performance and optimized resource management. Among these updates is the new Performance Detection tool, designed to actively monitor and identify factors that may hinder Chrome’s efficiency. This tool offers immediate recommendations to users; for instance, if performance issues arise from having multiple tabs open, Chrome will prompt users to close unnecessary tabs to free up resources.

The Memory Saver feature has also been upgraded, now offering three distinct usage modes: Moderate, Balanced, and Maximum. The Maximum mode is particularly effective, as it automatically suspends inactive tabs, thereby optimizing RAM utilization. Users have the flexibility to select the mode that best fits their browsing habits.

Furthermore, Google has added more customizable options for users to adjust performance settings. This includes the ability to specify websites to remain active even when Memory Saver is enabled, as well as options to disable performance-related notifications.

Historically, Chrome has been perceived as a browser that consumes significant RAM and struggles with speed. However, with these recent enhancements, Google aims to reshape this perception. While Chrome may still lag behind Microsoft Edge in speed, it is continually improving, thus providing a more efficient and smoother browsing experience for its users.
