Google adds new Gemini feature to Gmail

Google has just introduced two new features for Gmail users called Gemini. These features are designed to assist users in writing and refining email drafts using artificial intelligence (AI).

One of the new features, called “Polish,” is an enhancement of the “Help me write” feature, and it enables users to draft emails on both web and mobile platforms. Polish offers various options, such as converting to formal style, expanding content, or shortening content, allowing users to transform rough notes into polished and accurate drafts. In addition to Polish, Google has also added “Help me write” and “Refine my draft” shortcuts for Android and iOS devices.

When a user begins writing a new email without content, the “Help me write” shortcut will appear in the email body. Selecting this option takes the user to a full experience, providing more options to input information and receive AI-generated suggestions or paragraph completions. Similarly, the “Improve my draft” shortcut appears when the draft contains at least 12 words, offering options for Polish to fulfill requests such as converting to formal style, expanding content, shortening the draft, or starting a new one.

Google has confirmed that these features are enabled by default and that the “Help me write” option for improving email drafts and keyboard shortcuts is now available on Android and iOS devices.
