It has come to light that some users find the subscription fees for Google One less appealing, especially with the launch of the new Premium AI package priced at $20 per month. While the $2 per month basic plan caters to users with minimal needs, there is a demand for a more cost-effective “Lite” plan.
The recent analysis of the Google Photos APK (v6.92) by the Android Authority team revealed a reference to the new “Google One Lite plan”. Another reference lists the Lite plan alongside the existing Google One plans. Although the app does not provide additional details about the Lite plan or its potential features, speculation suggests that it might focus on Google’s photo backup solution, considering its association with the Google Photos app.
It is anticipated that the Google One Lite plan will not include the additional 100GB of storage and family-sharing features. Instead, it is expected to offer full access to all Google Photos features at a discounted price. Currently, all Google One plans grant access to Google Photos editing features, excluding the Magic Editor, which has a limit of 10 saves per day for the basic ($2 per month) and standard plans.
Furthermore, there are rumors about an upgraded unlimited plan with a new Lite option that offers fewer additional features. Additionally, it is speculated that Gemini access will be integrated into Google Photos once the Ask Photos feature is rolled out. The launch of the Google One Lite bundle is expected to coincide with the release of the Pixel 9 series next month.
