Google patches serious security holes on Android

Google recently released the August security patch to address 46 different Android security vulnerabilities, including a critical operating system kernel vulnerability. The kernel, which manages system resources and acts as a link between hardware and software, is affected by this serious vulnerability.

The identified vulnerability, registered as CVE-2024-36971, may result in remote code execution with system privileges. Google has classified it as critical and confirmed evidence of limited exploitation. The impact extends beyond Google’s Pixel line, affecting phones from other manufacturers as well. Google is collaborating with various manufacturers to address this security issue.

Additionally, the August security update addresses several vulnerabilities in Qualcomm components, with the most severe one, registered as CVE-2024-23350, classified as critical by Qualcomm. This vulnerability can lead to a denial of service (DoS) attack.

In light of these warnings, users must install security updates promptly. Users need to recognize the significance of keeping their phones and other devices updated, as companies continually work to resolve security concerns.
