Google first introduced the Magic Editor feature on Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in October 2023, and it is now being rolled out to various other smartphones. Users with the latest version of Google Photos (6.85) on recent Google Pixel or Samsung devices can now access the Magic Editor. It is expected to become available on phones from other manufacturers and even on Apple’s iPhone.

Google Pixel users can use Magic Editor for free with unlimited photos for editing and saving. However, users of Samsung, Apple, and other manufacturers’ phones are limited to editing and saving just 10 photos per month, unless they have a Google One Premium subscription.

Magic Editor offers more features than the previously tested Magic Eraser, which allows users to remove objects from photos. With Magic Editor, users can reframe pictures, remove unwanted objects, move entire objects, and even change weather conditions.

This quick deployment of Magic Editor is noteworthy, as Google announced the expansion of Magic Editor to more phones in May, and it has now been implemented in just a few weeks.

It’s worth noting that Samsung previously introduced similar AI-powered camera features with the Galaxy S24 series, offering various magical photo editing options and features like Live Translate. Users who prefer not to use Google Photos can explore alternative applications on the Google Play Store, such as Snapseed or Adobe Lightroom.
