The US government has issued a warning to Pixel phone users about a serious software vulnerability that could potentially expose these devices to targeted exploitation. The US government has instructed employees to update their Pixel phones’ security before July 4, and those who fail to do so could be required to stop using the product.

Although the specific details of the vulnerability have not been disclosed by Google, the US government’s response suggests that it is more serious than typical vulnerabilities. While the warning specifically targets Pixel devices, there is concern that the exploit could also extend to other Android phones, especially those connected to business servers.

According to GrapheneOS, an organization specializing in Android-based operating systems, this vulnerability is not exclusive to Pixel phones and may be addressed in an upcoming Android 15 update to be released in August.

Pixel users are advised to update their devices through the settings app as soon as possible, while other Android phone users may need to wait for the appropriate updates. The US government’s involvement indicates that a patch for this vulnerability may be forthcoming.
