Google upgrades a ‘better’ version of AI for Gemini users

Google has recently introduced a significant update to its large language model (LLM) Gemini, known as Gemini 1.5 Pro-002. This update enhances the model’s performance, particularly in math capabilities, and is aimed at providing superior functionality to Gemini Advanced users. With this upgrade, users can now make complex, multi-step requests without encountering AI confusion. The new version is optimized for conversations, ensuring greater accuracy when solving mathematical problems and handling highly complex topics.

Google claims that the new version is faster, more useful, and provides more accurate information. This is seen as a direct response to ChatGPT’s recent improvement in math capabilities with its o1-preview LLM model.

Gemini encompasses several models, including the Pro, Flash, Nano, and Ultra versions, each designed for different user needs. Additionally, the Gemini Live AI assistant, previously exclusive to Gemini Advanced subscribers, is now available to all Android users for free. However, it is worth noting that Gemini Live does not currently utilize the most powerful Pro 1.5 version.

Furthermore, other tech giants are also upgrading their AI capabilities. ChatGPT has introduced an enhanced Advanced Voice Mode feature for ChatGPT Plus users, while Microsoft has launched Copilot with a free voice mode on both web and mobile apps. Both Google and Microsoft are also focusing on perfecting their AI assistants’ integration with other apps, such as calendar and email, to enhance their overall functionality.
