Artificial intelligence (AI) tools have recently come under scrutiny due to privacy concerns related to Google’s Gemini AI.
According to a report by Tom’s Hardware, users have criticized Google’s AI Gemini tool for scanning PDF document files stored on Google Drive without their permission. Kevin Bankston, who voiced his frustration on the X network, highlighted the lack of control over his sensitive personal information.
Google has not provided a clear response to this issue. It seems that Gemini AI is unable to respect users’ privacy settings, resulting in the automatic scanning of PDF files without their consent. Although Google claims that this private data is not used to train AI, users remain concerned about the security of their personal information.
Kevin Bankston attempted to locate and disable settings related to Gemini AI but was unsuccessful, speculating that this issue may be linked to his previous participation in the Google Workspace Labs program.
This incident has sparked concerns about the data collection and usage practices of major tech companies. Users are increasingly seeking more control over their personal information, and there is a growing demand for companies to be more transparent about their data usage practices.
