Although Google claims to surpass the performance of leading artificial intelligence (AI) models such as OpenAI’s GPT-4, Gemini is making users disappointed.
During the launch event on December 6, Google showed a video of Gemini interacting with image data through a camera installed on a table, asking questions and solving problems like a human assistant working with a computer items. The video demonstrating Gemini’s ability to perform tasks smoothly and quickly made a strong impression on users. However, Google admitted to Bloomberg that this video had been edited.
Not only that, Gemini continues to disappoint netizens by providing false information. This reminds many people of the launch of Bard AI Google’s “flawless” in February when the chatbot answered incorrectly during CEO Sundar Pichai’s product introduction. Currently, Bard AI is running on the Gemini Pro version.
According to Insider, Bard AI repeatedly answered simple questions incorrectly. One user said that the chatbot also fabricated information when asked who won the best actor award at Oscar 2023. Besides, Bard’s language ability also has many limitations. For example, when asked “Give me a 6-letter word in French”, Gemini Pro answered with only 5 letters.
When users ask for information about controversial topics, Bard AI will refuse to answer and advise users to search on Google themselves. Meanwhile, rival chatbots such as billionaire Elon Musk’s Grok, Bing, and ChatGPT Pro can provide detailed answers.
Previously, Google warned that Bard AI could display incorrect information, so users need to carefully check their answers. The company says Gemini Ultra performs better than OpenAI’s GPT-4, but the Pro version only performs better than GPT -3.5.
Google is rolling out Gemini in phases, with the company planning to launch the highest-end Ultra version in early 2024.
