While digging through the files of Red Dead Redemption 2, a player unearthed clues about the highly anticipated GTA 6. These are weapons that did not exist in the days of John Marston and Arthur Morgan. . Explanations.

Difficult to know when GTA 6 will land. Information on this sixth opus is indeed scarce. To the point of leading to all kinds of more or less far-fetched speculation. In a teaser evoking the heist of Cayo Perico, certain attentive users had notably detected coordinates of longitude and latitude. They then entered them into Google Maps and it took them on a winding road located in Virginia, forming the Roman numeral VI. This is a priori indeed the first clue about GTA 6.

Since then, nothing conclusive had filtered out on this subject until recently. And it was in another iconic Rockstar Games title that another possible clue was discovered. Indeed, user “DerekLeet” wrote about an interesting find on the game forums. While going through the source code of Red Dead Redemption 2, he discovered the presence of a file called “propsets.meta”. In the latter were references to several weapons, namely the Browning pistol, the L1AL rifle and the AK47.

GTA 6: a potential clue in the source code of Red Dead Redemption 2 sows doubt

These did not exist in 1899, the time Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place. Their presence would therefore be anachronistic. Also, if AK47 does exist in GTA 5, it normally appears under a different name in its files. In this case, it is named “W_AR_ASSUALTRIFLE”. The one discovered in the files of Red Dead Redemption 2 appears under the name “W_AR_AK47”.

Information to say the least exciting even if we have no certainty that the presence of these weapons is linked to GTA 6. Note that this file has been in the code of Red Dead Redemption 2 since its release. Proof that GTA 6 has been in development for a long time? We can at least assume that.

While waiting to learn more, be aware that Rockstar is not going to abandon the solo players of GTA 5. In addition, we reported on Wednesday that GTA 4 Complete Edition could indeed burst on PS5 and Xbox Series next year.
