here are all the new features coming to ios 16.3 next week

Currently in beta, iOS 16.3 should be available sometime next week for all users. Overview of what’s new.

The new iOS 16.3 version brings a lot of new features. Among the big changes, Apple should review the operation of its Home application. The Cupertino company has mainly worked on the infrastructure of its service, an invisible part for users.

The novelties in detail:

Over the past few months, iOS 16.3 has had several betas. Here are the new features according to the different betas, which will arrive next week:

Beta 1 — released on 12/15/2022

Apple offers support for security keys as part of two-factor authentication. Concretely, iOS 16.3 will support accessories like Yubico’s Yubikey or Google’s Titan.

Beta 2 — released on 01/10/2023

Beta 2 changes the way to make an emergency call. Currently, you have to hold the power button with a volume button to start a call after a countdown. In beta 2, the call is made only after the buttons are released. Impossible to know today if this change will be maintained for the final version of iOS 16.3

Apple also fixes a bug in Apple Music. The latter automatically launched the songs in a so-called “clean” version (lyrics without insults) instead of the original version, with so-called “explicit” lyrics.

Beta RC (Release Candidate) — released on 01/18/2023

In this beta, we discover new wallpapers called Unity added on the occasion of Black History Month, an event throughout the month of February and celebrating the history of the African-American population.

It also brings support for the new HomePod 2 announced recently.

The iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max screen bug should also be part of it. The fix will fix the yellow and green lines that were appearing on some devices.

And finally, iOS 16.3 should update the entire HomeKit architecture to improve performance.

Availability

At the program level, the final version of iOS 16.3 should be available from January 25. A few more days of patience. All iPhones from 8 are compatible with this iOS 16.3 version.
