iPadOS 18 introduces a range of new features and enhancements, including a revamped Photos app and improved Home screen customization tools, similar to those found in iOS 18. Notably, the new tab bar has been replaced by a navigation sidebar, offering a customizable layout to keep your preferred features easily accessible throughout the system. Furthermore, the addition of a document browser in Pages, Numbers, and Keynote brings enhanced functionality to these apps.
For the first time, iPadOS 18 introduces the Calculator app to the iPad, featuring a history of calculations and unit conversions. Additionally, Math Notes enables users to solve expressions by handwriting with the Apple Pencil. SharePlay now allows users to annotate and remotely control another person’s iPad or iPhone.
The user interface has also undergone improvements, with enhanced animations that are more responsive, and new APIs are available to developers for integrating these animations. The developer beta for iPadOS 18 is set to launch today, followed by a public beta at a later date, with the official public release scheduled for the fall.
