Honor announces first foldable smartphone

Honor has just officially entered the foldable smartphone market called Magic V, and is also the most powerful foldable product available on the market thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip inside.

According to Neowin , the Magic V has a larger internal folding screen combined with a smaller outer folding screen that can be used even when the device is folded. The folding screen Magic V’s internal has a size of 7.9 inches and an aspect ratio of 10: 9. Its resolution is 2,272 x 1,984 with a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

When folded, the Magic V has a wider 21.3:9 aspect ratio thanks to a 6.45-inch OLED screen that curves 44 degrees. Additionally, the teardrop-shaped hinge opens up to the ultra-wide 7.9-inch display.

Inside, Magic V is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 12 GB RAM, up to 512 GB internal memory and a 4,750 mAh battery that supports fast charging at a capacity of up to 66W. In addition to 5G support, Honor’s Magic UI 6.0 user interface is also based on Android 12. The company claims this allows for simultaneous display of multiple apps.

The product has three 50MP sensors on the back, including a spectrum enhancement camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a camera that Honor calls the “main sensor”. Magic V includes two 42 MP front-facing cameras, one in the outer screen and one in the folding screen.

Available in black, silver and orange colors, the Honor Magic V will officially hit retail stores in China on January 18, with prices starting at $1,570.
