The latest iOS 15 update introduces new security features, including the option to lock apps using Face ID. This enhancement allows users to conceal certain apps from both their iPhones’ Home Screen and App Library, providing an added layer of privacy and security.
Users can access this feature by pressing and holding the app icon until the “Require Face ID” option appears. Upon selecting this option, a pop-up menu will present users with the choice to either “Require Face ID” or “Hide and Require Face ID.” It’s important to note that while most apps offer both options, not all apps support the hiding feature using Face ID.
After opting to hide the app using Face ID, a splash screen will confirm that the app’s icon and name will be concealed from the home screen, and the app will be moved to a hidden folder in the App Library. Once hidden, the app will not receive notifications or calls and will be accessible only by navigating to the Hidden folder within the App Library, which will require Face ID authentication.
To unhide the app, users can long-press the app icon and select “Don’t Require Face ID,” which will return the app to the App Library, although it may not return to its original position on the home screen.
While this feature provides added security and privacy, it’s important to note that not all apps can be hidden using Face ID, and some limitations may be in place due to current software restrictions or potential bugs that Apple aims to address in upcoming iOS 15 updates.
