Intel co-founder Gordon Moore dies aged 94

Intel has just announced that one of its co-founders and the famous originator of Moore’s Law, Gordon Moore, has died at the age of 94.

According to Neowin , Mr. Gordon Moore passed away peacefully on March 24 with the appearance of family members at his home in Hawaii (USA). Mr. Moore co-founded Intel in July 1968 with Robert Noyce and held many positions until he stepped down as emeritus president in 2006

Even without knowing much about Mr. Moore’s involvement at Intel, many people have certainly heard of the Moore’s Law he introduced. This is the law regarding the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubling every two years. In 1965, Mr. Moore said the number of transistors would double every year, then revised this in 1975 to biennial. Since then, much of Moore’s Law has held true until some have argued that it is no longer relevant today.

Gordon’s vision makes sense as we use the power of technology to improve the lives of everyone on Earth. My career and much of my life while working. My work at Intel has been driven by Gordon’s leadership and I am honored and understand my responsibility to continue the legacy he left.”

Gordon Moore was born in San Francisco (USA) on January 3, 1929. According to Intel’s announcement, Gordon Moore left behind his wife Betty, 2 sons Kenneth and Steven, 4 grandchildren.
