Intel has made a strategic move to challenge Nvidia’s dominance in the artificial intelligence (AI) market through partnerships with major technology companies. The aim is to strengthen Intel’s position in the market and compete with its rivals.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger previously expressed the company’s intention to challenge Nvidia’s position in the market. He emphasized the industry’s unity in combating Nvidia’s dominance, particularly through the CUDA ecosystem. Gelsinger referred to Nvidia’s current reputation as a mere “moat” and suggested that the company’s success might not be sustainable.

Justin Hotard, Intel’s Senior Vice President of Data Center and AI Group, shared the company’s vision of creating an “open ecosystem” that could potentially disrupt Nvidia’s industry monopoly. This open ecosystem aims to support the entire AI market, from PCs to data centers, to leverage Intel’s Foundry for semiconductor processing.

At the first Intel AI Seoul Summit 2024, Hotard emphasized the significance of AI as a transformative force, comparing it to the impact of the internet. Intel’s strategy involves establishing an open ecosystem and forming strategic partnerships with companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. These partnerships are expected to play a crucial role in the future of the AI market.

The company’s optimistic outlook for the AI market indicates its commitment to shaping the future of AI technology. Moreover, Intel’s interest in collaborating with Korean companies like SK Hynix may offer strategic business opportunities, as these companies have historically been key partners for Intel.
