Intel officially investigated the issue of 13th and 14th-generation CPUs causing game errors

There have been many reports of high-end 13th and 14th-generation CPUs from Intel causing game crashes, particularly in titles developed by Unreal Engine. This issue has affected many users, leading some to return their CPUs. At the start of the year, Core i9-13900K and Core i7-14900K users also encountered problems while playing games, including errors such as “Out of video memory” and sudden game application closures. Some more serious cases even caused the system to hang and required a restart.

Most of the issues seem to be related to titles that use Unreal Engine, such as Fortnite. In response to the situation, Epic Games advised users to adjust BIOS settings, but this solution has not always been effective and may cause other problems. Some game developers, such as Fatshark, have also offered advice to mitigate the problem on 13th and 14th-generation Intel CPUs. For example, Vermintide 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide recommended that users reduce the performance core clock using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU).

According to the report, in Korea, around 10 users per day are exchanging 13th or 14th-generation CPUs or pre-assembled PCs using these chips for AMD Ryzen processors in the same segment. In response to user complaints, Intel has confirmed that it is investigating the issues and working with partners to find solutions. However, for now, reducing clock speeds, power/current limits, and voltages for 13th and 14th-generation CPUs seems to be the only way to temporarily resolve game errors.
