Apple has just updated the majority of its devices. The deployment of iOS 16, which corrects some big faults, will be retained.
Apple has now released iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6, the sixth point updates of the iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 operating systems that were released for the first time last September. The launch of iOS 16.6 comes more than a month after the release of iOS 16.5, an update that made minor changes to Apple News.
“Important fixes and security-related improvements”
According to Apple’s release notes for the update, it includes unspecified bug fixes and security enhancements. No new features were found during the test period, and Apple’s notes on the software do not provide any additional indication.
In addition to these important patches, there are updates to:
- Contact Key Verification: This new iMessage and FaceTime feature makes it possible to certify a correspondent and thus reduce the risk of cyberattack via message.
- Locate: correction of a fault allowing unwanted access to sensitive location information
- WebKit: correction of 6 security flaws, several of which allow high-privacy access and therefore potentially major damage to the machine
This is clearly a minor update, as Apple works as a priority on iOS 17. Indeed, the public beta version is available for beta testers.
How do you update your iPhone?
As usual, you can download iOS 16.6 and iPadOS by going to Settings, General, and Software Update. Apple has also released an iOS 15.7.8 update for those who are not able to upgrade to iOS 16.
