Leaks expert LeaksApplePro has shared some details about the next major iOS update, iOS 17, which Apple is expected to release this fall alongside the iPhone 15.
According to BGR , the report suggests that iOS 17 (codenamed Down) won’t be much different from iOS 16, which suggests that the iPhone maker doesn’t appear to be planning a significant redesign for the upcoming operating system, a This is partly because many resources at the company are said to be focused on developing mixed reality glasses and the software that works on them.
Apple will also tweak the Mail, Reminders, Files, Fitness, Wallet, and Find My apps in iOS 17. Meanwhile, the Home app is expected to get major changes. But as with Music, LeaksApplePro doesn’t share any notable specifics about these changes.
As for the mixed reality glasses, Apple will bring a dedicated app in iOS 17 similar to what the company did with the Watch app. However, it will come with significantly more features.
LeaksApplePro sources also said that iOS 17 will support 6 iPhone models with Dynamic Island. That seems to refer to the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and all 4 iPhone 15 models. This information is consistent with recent leaks when it is said that Apple will completely remove the notch in iPhone models launched this year to switch to Dynamic Island.
Finally, the iOS 17 leak also suggests that all four iPhone 15 models have USB-C ports, but only two iPhone models will support the same data transfer rate with USB 3.2. In other words, despite switching to USB-C, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will most likely have the same transfer speed as the Lightning port. More clear details about the iPhone 15 family will be revealed by Apple this fall.
