iOS 18 will integrate many AI features on Safari and Siri

Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 is set to integrate advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features to improve user experience while protecting privacy. According to recent leaks, the company plans to apply AI models to most core applications, including Safari, Spotlight Search, Siri, Mail, and Messages.

One of the notable AI features is the ability to generate answers on the device quickly. The AI model, Ajax LLM, will analyze input text at high speed and provide multiple responses based on accuracy and relevance. This lightning-fast keyword and phrase analysis will also be instrumental in generating text summaries for Safari and messages.

Moreover, Safari 18 will introduce a new “Smart Search” feature that allows users to create concise web page summaries with ease. Additionally, Apple’s AI model will integrate with other apps to extract information from contacts and calendars and provide contextually relevant responses. Siri is also expected to benefit from this integration.

While more advanced tasks such as creating creative text and generating in-depth responses may still rely on cloud processing, Apple is working to reduce the iPhone’s dependence on cloud-based processing. The company is reportedly collaborating with OpenAI and Google to bring AI features to the iPhone.

Apple is expected to unveil its AI features at the WWDC 2024 developers conference next June. The company is committed to developing AI models that prioritize user privacy, ensuring that personal information remains protected.
