iPhone 13 Pro / Pro Max will have a button to turn on / off macro shooting mode

Receiving feedback about the AI-controlled macro feature on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, Apple has added an on/off button for this feature, which is expected to launch with the iOS 15.2 update.

The two most anticipated features are the most disappointing

Back in September 2021, Apple officially launched the generation iPhone 13 with 4 lines: iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Notably, two high-end device lines (Pro and Pro Max) are mentioned a lot by Apple about the improvement of the camera cluster, the most typical (and also the most anticipated by iFan) is the recording mode cinematic ( cinematic mode) and macro photography. However, after being on the shelves, these are the two features that received the most negative feedback.

Regarding the cinematic feature, many experts say that the algorithm Apple built for this feature is still not smart enough to be able to separate objects. This leads to “incorrect font removal” and is sometimes unable to recognize objects and objects. However, these algorithms are applied “machine learning”, so the accuracy will gradually improve through the next updates.

Meanwhile, the comments for the macro feature are somewhat worse. Currently, the macro feature on iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max can only be activated by AI (artificial intelligence), this process is completely automatic when the user brings the camera cluster really close to the object. However, it is not uncommon for devices to misrecognize. Each time, the camera software continuously switches between the ultra-wide lens and the wide-angle lens. This made many users uncomfortable and decided to turn off the feature completely.

Apple will “correct mistakes” in iOS 15.2 version

Recently, iOS 15.2 beta 2 testing update was released. Although this update’s edit log makes no mention of it, YouTube content creator Aaron Zollo has discovered that Apple has “silently” modified the macro capture feature.

Specifically, when bringing the iPhone 13 Pro lens close to the object, on the camera application screen, a macro shooting icon (flower image) will appear and the user can optionally activate the macro shooting mode, instead of automatically. switch to the ultra-wide lens as before. Aaron also mentioned that users need to actively go to Settings > Camera and turn off Auto Macro first, then go to Preserve Settings and enable Auto Macro in here.

Perhaps this setting layout is still not reasonable, so Apple has decided not to include the revision log of iOS 15.2 beta 2, instead, they will wait until it is completed to officially announce it.
