iPhone 14 brings good news to iPhone 13 users

The standard iPhone 14 models are identified as just minor upgrades over the 2021 launch versions, and this can be seen as a good thing for iPhone 13 owners.

According to PhoneArena, Apple has replaced the iPhone 13 Mini with a larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus to attract users who want the same screen and large battery as the Pro Max model but at a lower cost. However, early data from analyst Ming-chi Kuo suggests that most buyers are focusing on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

That’s because the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus simply look like reheated versions of the iPhone 13. They have the same A15 Bionic chip instead of the faster A16 Bionic based on the new manufacturing process. They also don’t come with a Dynamic Island for technology and the front camera and don’t have a 48MP camera on the back.

That’s not to say the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are nothing new. They have a new main camera sensor and autofocus on the front camera, as well as get features like auto accident detection and satellite connectivity, and have more RAM than their predecessors.

The problem is, even though Apple has stamped the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus names on these products, they are actually improved versions of the iPhone 13. Chinese reports that the latest beta version of Xcode revealed the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus have the same model number as the iPhone 13, which are iPhone14.7 and iPhone14.8. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max have been assigned iPhone15.2 and iPhone15.3 model numbers, respectively.

owners of iPhone 13 have reason to rejoice. One of the main reasons is that current iPhone models all receive long-term support from Apple, some of which last up to 7 years. Now that the iPhone 13 family and regular iPhone 14 models all use the same chip, Apple will have to support 2021 phones (even the 2022 iPhone SE) for the same amount of time. As a result, iPhone 13 models can still be bought more, especially when their prices are cheaper than the iPhone 14.
