iPhone 17 Air faces a ‘tough’ opponent from Samsung

Apple is rumored to introduce the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air next year, replacing the iPhone Plus. Despite the high price, the iPhone 17 Air may not be the most powerful model in the lineup due to the trade-offs involved in achieving its thin profile.

On the other hand, Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy S25 series in early 2025. The leaked information suggests that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature a thinner body with rounded corners, addressing design issues found in the previous model. The device is expected to have narrower bezels, making it more user-friendly and comfortable to hold.

Leaked reports also suggest that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be the “thinnest and lightest” smartphone, potentially surpassing the thickness dimensions of other leading models such as the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Meanwhile, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to be even thinner than previous models. Notably, the thickness of Apple’s devices has decreased over the years, as seen in the transition from the 6.9mm thick iPhone 6 in 2014 to the 5.1mm thick iPad Pro M4 in the present day.

As Samsung aims to capitalize on the thinness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra to attract consumers, Apple will likely be striving to make the iPhone 17 Air as sleek as possible before its launch.
