Apple is reportedly working on a new password manager application called “Passwords” for its upcoming operating system for iPhone and Mac. This application aims to provide a LastPass or 1Password-style password management solution, competing with existing paid password managers. The new app is expected to be unveiled at the WWDC 2024 developer’s conference on June 10.
The “Passwords” app will offer features like categorizing passwords, importing passwords from rival apps, and auto-filling login credentials when users access websites or apps. Moreover, it may integrate with Apple’s Vision Pro glasses for two-factor authentication. However, whether the app will support secure storage for files and images like 1Password and LastPass is not confirmed.
In addition to the “Passwords” app, Apple is anticipated to announce the next versions of its operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS, at the WWDC 2024 event. These new operating systems are expected to come with enhanced artificial intelligence features.
