iPhone SE is the best-selling smartphone in the second quarter at the home of Samsung

Apple’s market share in South Korea is 19%, up to 1% compared to Q1 2020. Meanwhile, LG continues to hold the 3rd position with a 13% share.

The iPhone SE comes out in April and Apple hopes to attract an accessible audience. CEO Tim Cook’s strategy seems to have worked well when the device sold well in most markets.

According to PhoneArena, Counterpoint Research’s Patently Apple report indicates that the iPhone SE 2020 version is the most popular product in Korea in the second quarter of this year.

However, Samsung still dominates the domestic market with a market share of 67%, which is 3% more than the first quarter. Samsung’s advantage seems to be in the Galaxy S20 product line, which shows that the flagship is still “on display”. “Better in Korea than in the rest of the world.”

Five of the top ten best-selling smartphones in Korea are Galaxy A models, suggesting that the demand for affordable smartphones has increased because of the Covid-19 translation. According to estimates, phones under $ 400 account for 45% of all devices sold, up 12% from the same period in 2019.

Overall, smartphone sales in South Korea increased 9% q-o-q, but down 8% y-o-y.
