Keysight announces first mid-range network analyzer

Keysight Technologies today introduced the E5081A ENA-X, the first mid-range vector network analyzer (VNA), enabling fast, accurate performance of error vector intensity (EVM) measurements and up to 50% less time characterization of 5G component designs.

The demand for increasingly high data rates with extremely low latency is enhancing the performance of next generation radio communication systems. To ensure that 5G New Radio (NR) transmitters meet these operational needs, the RF engineering team must fully test the design and performance of components such as power amplifiers (PAs)

Measurements for PA under real-world conditions take a lot of time, instrumentation, and setup effort to be able to perform. In addition, for 5G certification of PA components, a high-performance VNA analyzer that can perform the required precise EVM measurements is required.

new ENA-X meter Keysight fills this need by providing RF engineers with a mid-range network analysis platform with built-in modulation strain analysis, allowing for full vector correction. at the device under test (DUT) over a single test setup. With its unique architecture, the ENA-X can perform multiple measurements with a single connection, simplifying test setup, supporting measurement repeatability and measuring speed.

It also offers a single test setup, operates with a single connection and requires only one calibration, thereby reducing PA specification time by up to 50% for 5G transmitters in frequency bands. 5G NR FR1 and FR2

“Combined with powerful modulation distortion analysis software found only on high-performance PNA series network analyzers,” said Joe Rickert, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight’s High Frequency Measurement Center. Our new mid-range E5081A ENA-X VNA meter is the ideal solution for power amplifier characterization for 5G transmitters.Custom MMICs for ENA-X maximum output power. performance, dynamic range, and system stability RF engineers need without compromising the performance of the power amplifier being measured”.
