LG Gram Fold folding screen laptop launched

After Asus and Lenovo, LG became the next name to enter the laptop market with folding screens by launching Gram Fold in the Korean market.

According to Android Authority, Gram Fold is equipped with a 17-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,920 (4:3 ratio) when opened or a 12-inch screen when folded. The Korean company says it provides a virtual keyboard on the bottom half of the screen when folded, but users can also place a Bluetooth keyboard on the bottom half for a laptop experience. traditional

Gram Fold can be used as a monitor, e-reader, or large tablet. Like the best tablets, LG says its laptop also supports pen input.

In terms of durability, the product’s “hinge area” passed the folding test, where it proved to be able to fold up to 30,000 times. Although this number is not much compared to a folding screen phone, the folding/unfolding of a laptop will take place less than a phone. The number 30,000 times is equivalent to about 20 times folding and opening every day for 4 years.

For hardware, Gram Fold is equipped with a 13th generation Intel Core i5-1335U CPU, Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, and a 72Wh battery that supports 65W charging. The device weighs 1.25 kg and has a maximum thickness of 9.4 mm when opened. Other specs include three stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6E, and 2 USB-C ports.

LG confirmed that its first folding screen laptop will be offered in limited quantities in its home market of Korea and there is no information regarding market expansion plans. The price of Gram Fold is 3,729 USD but will be offered at a promotional price of 2,982 USD for the first 200 customers. This number will allow Gram Fold to compete with the Zenbook 17 Fold launched by Asus for $3,499.
