Apple has recently announced noteworthy updates to its MacBook Air line alongside the launch of the new MacBook Pro M4. The current MacBook Air models, M2 and M3, have been upgraded to feature 16 GB of RAM while keeping the starting price consistent at 999 USD. This enhancement makes the product more appealing to users.

This change was unveiled in tandem with Apple’s broader upgrade to all new Mac products, which now come with 16 GB of starting RAM. This includes the MacBook Pro M4, iMac M4, and Mac mini M4. By implementing these upgrades, Apple aims to ensure that its Mac lineup can effectively support Apple Intelligence features both now and in the future, addressing past issues experienced with the iPhone 15, which lacked the necessary RAM to run these features with just 6 GB.

Looking ahead, the upcoming MacBook Air M4 is expected to match the performance capabilities of the baseline MacBook Pro M4, given the increase in RAM. Industry sources predict a launch for the MacBook Air M4 in early 2025.

The upgrade from 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM at the same price point is a significant benefit for users opting for the entry-level MacBook Air model. This enhancement addresses a major concern regarding the previous standard versions, especially considering the cost associated with these devices.
