Malware attacks hundreds of common applications

The newly discovered BlackRock malware shows that it can be more dangerous than the freshly discovered Joker virus and is capable of exploiting similar security holes. According to PhoneArena, BlackRock is targeting a long list of popular Android applications, from PayPal to Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Uber, Netflix, eBay, Amazon, Telegram, WhatsApp, Twitter, Snapchat, Skype, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, Tumblr, Pinterest, Tinder, Grindr, and even the Google Play Store. In total, not less than 337 applications fell victim to this malware.

In general, this is a mobile application that most users use regularly. So the solution to this problem is not to delete everything and look for less common alternatives. Instead, users only need to pay attention to what they install, especially where they install the application, and make sure they are up to date.

In other words, users have nothing to worry about, at least for this particular virus if they download everything from an official source. The danger only appears when users receive the update prompt from third party sources.

Sadly, at the present time users cannot clean their phones from BlackRock if they fall into such an attack, that’s because it will stop most antivirus programs. The recommendations for the simplest, safest and easiest way to protect against this threat are to never rely on a third-party app store and install a reliable antivirus solution before An attack occurred.
