Malware on MacOS attacks crypto wallets

Kaspersky and Bleeping Computer reported unusual malware targeting MacOS users’ cryptocurrency wallets, exploiting their overconfidence in Apple’s security, and specifically aiming at those willing to skirt legal boundaries.

This new virus masquerades as a tool for unlocking illegally downloaded programs on MacOS. When the user inputs their password to supposedly fix the illicit software, the virus starts to extensively gather data from the victim’s computer. What it’s after is the Mac user’s cryptocurrency wallet. As soon as it detects one, the malicious software performs a deceptive swap, swiftly substituting the real wallet with a fake one.

This devious ploy is no surprise, yet the software is safe for the truthful user.
