CEO Mark Zuckerberg has just revealed that Meta plans to develop a chat tool based on artificial intelligence (AI) with the promise of bringing this enhanced chat feature to Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
According to Engadget, this is not the first time that Meta has implemented some AI features into its product. Before that, in 2016, Meta introduced chatbots for Messenger. However, the new move represents a significant expansion of the company into the field of AI – which is increasingly attractive.
This tool works like ChatGPT style. Meta is now evolving so that the tool can support a wide variety of media formats. To help accelerate these efforts, Meta is bringing together its talented AI teams into a single team. Even so, Zuckerberg did not provide any further information and warned that there is still a lot of work to be done on the platform before the most advanced projects become a reality.
Not only Meta but many internet giants like Google are also feeling competitive pressure from OpenAI’s ChatGPT, as it could theoretically undermine search and other vital businesses.
CEO Zuckerberg said in Meta’s latest earnings report that he wants the company to be a “leader” in AI innovation. The drawback with this plan of the company is that its revenue is still shrinking and the shift to the metaverse is costing the company tens of billions of dollars. Not stopping there, the company has also just cut more than 11,000 jobs to reduce fees and overcome a difficult economy.
