Microsoft can invest 100 million dollars in native app ShareChat

News has been around for a long time about the Microsoft TikTok deal. In such a situation, all eyes were on this agreement. At the same time, as part of the discussion of this deal, another message was released that Microsoft has around 100 million in regional voice apps for social media ShareChat from India. According to agency reports, negotiations are currently at an early stage. ShareChat is in the process of funding anew for its expansion. ShareChat has a user base of over 140 million monthly active users in the country.

Twitter has also invested $ 100 million in ShareChat before Microsoft. During that time, the company was valued at $ 650 million, which is around Rs 4800 crore. ShareChat is a native app that is available in a total of 15 regional languages. It includes Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Oriya, Kannada, Assamese, Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri and Urdu. This app is also very popular among users.

ShareChat said last month that its short video sharing platform Moj had crossed five million downloads from the Google Play Store in just a week. This app was launched in the market after TikTok was banned. The regional-language social media platform had completely migrated its infrastructure to Google Cloud to reduce costs. A large proportion of the active users of this app are in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Most of this relies on 2G networks.

The news from Microsoft-ShareChat comes at a time when Microsoft is reportedly planning to acquire the global business of China’s short-video making app TikTok. Explain that after TikTok was banned in India, now US President Donald Trump has also made it clear that this app will be banned in the US as well. On the other hand, if Microsoft buys this app then it will become the app of America instead of China.
