Microsoft has reportedly released a patch for the issue of pulling data from Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers (with user consent) not working correctly.
According to Neowin, Microsoft Edge update 121.0.2277.128 is now available for download in the stable channel with a unique fix for Microsoft’s official data import feature.
It should be noted that the release of version 121.0.2277.128 coincides with recent reports of Microsoft Edge being accused of “stealing data from other browsers”. Many users have complained about Edge copying open tabs, favorites, and other data and then launching itself with that information for no reason.
Although the information was widely posted, Microsoft never acknowledged this problem, so there is no official information about whether the latest update has anything to do with data theft.
Microsoft Edge automatically updates in the background so users can continue to use it. If you want to install the latest update, go to Menu > Help and Feedback> About Microsoft Edge or visit Edge://settings/help.
Microsoft also previously announced some fundamental changes to Microsoft Edge on Apple Silicon Macs, helping to increase performance by up to 20% in some browser benchmarks.
