Microsoft introduces an AI model aimed at low-cost phones

Microsoft has recently introduced its latest AI model called Phi-3 Mini, which is designed to cater to low-cost mobile phones with low hardware configuration. This AI model is an upgraded version of the previously launched Phi-2, which was introduced in December 2023. However, to compete with the advanced AI models of its competitors, Microsoft had to invest more in its latest AI model, Phi-3 Mini.

Although it is considered a lightweight version, the Phi-3 Mini is still capable of providing 3.8 billion parameters, which is much more powerful than its predecessor. Additionally, it consumes fewer device resources than the current larger language models, making it an excellent option for low-power consumption devices.

Microsoft’s latest AI model has outperformed both Goal Flame and OpenAI’s GPT-3, as per the tests conducted by the company. The Phi-3 Mini was trained with 3.8 billion tokens and boasts an impressive performance, on par with other competing models such as Mistral and GPT-3.5.

Eric Boyd, the Vice President of Microsoft, stated that the Phi-3 Mini is capable of performing advanced natural language processing on smartphones, making it an ideal AI model for mobile applications that require AI support anytime, anywhere. This AI model is optimized for low-power consumption devices, making it suitable for low-configuration phone models.

Apart from Phi-3 Mini, Microsoft has also released two other AI models called Phi-3 Small and Phi-3 Medium, which are designed for more powerful AI models on better configuration models.
