Microsoft has recently reduced the size of the upcoming Windows 10 update, which is expected to significantly enhance the installation speed. Usually, larger update packages take more time to download related files, particularly if the internet connection is unstable. However, the new cumulative update is different from previous updates in terms of size. Earlier, the update packages used to have a capacity of around 830 MB, but the upcoming update size will be only 650 MB, which is a reduction of 20%. Although it doesn’t mean that updates will install 20% faster, users will still notice a clear difference in overall processing time.
This is noteworthy because previous Windows updates usually took a few minutes to install, even on powerful PCs with good internet connectivity. Moreover, users with slower internet connections had to wait even longer, which could disrupt their work. However, this improvement mainly benefits users with slower-than-average internet connections as the installation process will be faster than before. The new update has been available since April 23 and will appear on everyone’s computers soon. Additionally, Microsoft is researching a method called UPP that promises to reduce update speeds on Windows 10 and 11 PCs significantly.
