Microsoft plans to launch a mobile game store to challenge Apple and Google this July.

According to VGC, Microsoft will launch a new mobile game store next July, marking a big step forward for the company in competing with the two giants Apple and Google. This store will be web-based, allowing users to access it from any device and country.

Microsoft’s goal is to create a mobile gaming platform that is more open and competitive than the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. According to Xbox director Sarah Bond, the new store will be ‘accessible on any device, country, regardless of closed ecosystem store policies’.

Microsoft’s mobile game store will launch with games developed by the company and additional content for these games. After a while, the store will also be open to third-party publishers to participate.

This is an important strategic move by Microsoft after acquiring Activision Blizzard, a mobile game publisher famous for titles like Candy Crush, Call of Duty Mobile, and Diablo Immortal. This deal shows Microsoft’s great ambition to dominate the mobile gaming market.

“It’s impossible to plan for the future without being on the platform where most people in the world play,” said Microsoft chief games officer Phil Spencer. “Different games, different business models The whole distribution dynamic, the way you find games is different, so looking at that, I needed to find a team that had success to learn from.”
