Microsoft Teams was ‘blacked out’ globally for more than 8 hours

Microsoft Teams was down over the weekend for more than eight hours, with the situation occurring in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

According to The Verge, confirmation from Microsoft said that although the outage with Teams was resolved by switching to backup servers, the company is still working on it because of some ongoing issues. before completely fixing the problem to operate optimally on the night of January 27.

Previously, some users reported being unable to log in to Teams, while others saw missing messages, missing attachments, etc. Even after logging in, downloading messages, or viewing multimedia content, they could not log in. Media is returned, and many users may remain unavailable to the call, experiencing delays or problems returning to the call.

It is known that Microsoft Teams stopped working for nearly 4 hours exactly one year ago. The company also experienced a few major outages in 2021, 2020, and 2019, but this 8-hour outage was severe.

It took Microsoft about 13 hours to completely resolve the issue. If users have access to the Microsoft Teams admin console, they can check the status at TM710344.
