Following an incident involving CrowdStrike, Microsoft has decided to review its security solutions. After a widespread ‘blue screen’ error caused by a CrowdStrike update, the tech giant is prioritizing the strengthening of its core operating system’s security.
According to reports from TechSpot, Microsoft Vice President John Cable emphasized the need for substantial changes to enhance Windows’ resilience in the wake of the CrowdStrike incident. He announced that Microsoft is focusing on developing end-to-end security solutions to prevent similar issues in the future.
In response to the incident, Microsoft is considering limitations on third-party security software’s access to the highest privileges (kernel), a key factor in the CrowdStrike incident. Additionally, the company is working on integrating new security features like VBS enclave and Microsoft Azure Attestation (MAA) to bolster system protection.
Microsoft is also encouraging organizations to take proactive measures like regular data backups, timely deployment of security updates, and the utilization of cloud-based device management methods.
