In recent years, Microsoft has heavily invested in OpenAI, leading to the integration of advanced AI technologies across its entire platform. A significant development in this initiative was the launch of Copilot (previously known as Bing Chat) in February 2023. Since its debut, Copilot has experienced numerous updates and enhancements, including a shift away from the Bing branding.
The latest update aims to improve user experience with the introduction of features such as Copilot Vision. However, this update has received mixed reviews from users, with many expressing dissatisfaction and some even requesting an option to revert to the earlier version of Copilot.
Previously, Microsoft referred to its AI functionalities under the name ‘Windows Intelligence.’ Currently, the company has not officially addressed user concerns regarding the Copilot update. However, insights from TechRadar, derived from references in the privacy.adml file shared on social media platform X, suggest that Microsoft may be regrouping its AI features under the “Windows Intelligence” branding in Windows 11. This approach draws parallels to Apple’s AI strategy, which includes the introduction of the Apple Intelligence platform.
While further details on a potential rebranding from Copilot to Windows Intelligence are still forthcoming, this indicates Microsoft’s intention to strengthen its AI capabilities and integrate them more deeply into the Windows ecosystem. Notably, this isn’t the first time Microsoft has utilized the term “Windows Intelligence,” as it has previously associated it with cybersecurity enhancements.
