Nintendo confirms there won’t be a new Switch this year

It will be at least 11 more months until fans get their hands on the next-gen devices from Nintendo.

According to The Gamer, after a long journey of 6 years, Nintendo Switch sales are now starting to slow down. However, fans still won’t get the next generation of consoles this year.

Nintendo recently released its report for the end of the financial year in March 2023 and shared some information about its aspirations for the coming year. According to what the company revealed, it can be seen that there will be no successor version of the Switch to be launched in the current financial year

As reported by Eurogamer, Nintendo said that Switch sales were down 22% year-on-year and that another drop is expected in the next 12 months.

Ampere Analysis’s Piers Harding-Rolls said that Nintendo’s plan is to launch their next console by the holiday season in 2024. He also hopes that the upcoming Zelda game will give him a boost. Nintendo hardware sales. That should help the Switch sell an additional 15 million units this fiscal year as it wants, while also cementing its position as the third best-selling console ever, with 140 million units already in the hands of consumers.

Rumors that Nintendo will soon launch a successor to the Switch have been circulating since the beginning of this year. However, the company has clear roadmaps for 6-year-old consoles throughout 2023, which further proves that the launch of a new device will be quite a while away. Specifically, the upcoming Tears of the Kingdom and its expansions (DLCs) will make up a big part of Nintendo’s year, as will the two upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet DLC

Nintendo has had mixed results in its transitions to next-generation consoles. With the great success of the Wii, the Wii U was quite the opposite. As for the Switch, it is the console with the longest tenure and more success than any other Nintendo console. Now, what fans can do is continue to experience the Switch and wait for the Japanese game company’s rookie to arrive at the end of next year.
