The E3 2023 event will see the absence of a major player in the video game industry.

According to VGC, in a new statement, Nintendo has confirmed that it will not be participating in the E3 2023 event scheduled to take place in June.

Nintendo said: “Because this year’s E3 program did not fit with our plans, the company has made the decision not to participate in the event. However, Nintendo has been and continues to be a strong supporter of ESA and E3”.

This statement officially confirms reports that have surfaced since early February, revealing that the Japanese company will, along with PlayStation, not attend the E3 show.

To date, Ubisoft is the largest publisher to confirm its appearance at the show. On the Microsoft side, the company has announced that it will be present in Los Angeles (USA) this year with an exhibition in the summer. However, according to IGN, the Xbox company will also not be present at the main stage of E3.

E3 2023 will be held in a separate format between business and consumer events. Specifically, two days June 13 and June 14 will be dedicated to businesses, June 15 will welcome both business guests and consumers, and the last day of June 16 will be dedicated to consumers.

Last month, E3’s ReedPop organizer told VGC that they’ve received “a lot of interest” from many of the “biggest companies in the industry” and that they believe this year’s event will be well worth attending
