Nintendo Switch 2 may be released in two different models

Nintendo will likely release a standard and digital version of the Switch 2 at launch.

According to ComicBook, a new rumor has claimed that Nintendo may look to release two console models for the Nintendo Switch 2. Throughout the Switch’s lifespan, Nintendo has released different versions of the console. The first Switch launched in 2017, followed by the Switch Lite in 2019 and the OLED Switch in 2021.

Now, it looks like Nintendo is planning a similar strategy for the Switch 2 generation, but instead, the company will launch more than one model upon official release.

According to a Discord user named SoldierDelta, Nintendo may release two versions of Switch 2 at prices of 399 USD and 449 USD in 2024. Of the two consoles, the $449 device will be the Standard edition and the $399 device will be a digital console, meaning no physical disc or cartridge is used.

The leaker said the source was “collected” from a Discord server that has previously offered accurate scoops and rumors about the video game industry. In addition, SoldierDelta himself also said that September 24, 2024, is the Switch 2 launch date that Nintendo is aiming for.

However, even if SoldierDelta has shared reliable information in the past, Nintendo may not have all the plans for Switch 2 ready at the present time. Therefore, everything still just stops at the level of open reception and continues to wait for official information from the company
